XAU/USD is trading near a monthly high
On Friday, the XAU/USD pair mostly declined from 2718 to 2699, slightly retreating from the monthly high of 2725 reached last week on Thursday. Today, gold started trading mainly with growth in the range of 2689-2709. On the hourly chart, XAU/USD is trading above the MA (200) H1 (2681) moving average line and above MA (200) H4 (2652) on the four-hour chart. Based on the above, it is probably worth sticking to the northern direction in trading and as long as gold remains above the MA 200 H1, it is necessary to look for entry points to buy during the formation of a correction.
Resistance levels are at: 2719-2725, 2763, 2790
Support levels are at: 2680-2690, 2669, 2656
The main scenario for the pair's advance assumes a breakout of the resistance of 2719-2725 (Dec 12 and Jan 16-17 high) and there may be an increase to 2763 (Nov 1 high)
An alternative scenario implies a breakout of the support 2680-2690 (Jan 16 low, session low, MA (200) H1), followed by a likely fall to 2669 (Jan 15 low).
