The main US stock indexes finished trading on the positive territory

The main US stock indices grew moderately, helped by a rise in the price of shares in the consumer goods sector, as well as Friday labor market data, which gave investors greater confidence that the US economy remains strong.

Meanwhile, today's report from the Conference Board showed that the US employment trends index, which is a set of labor market indicators, declined in May, and interrupted the series of growth that lasted 5 months in a row. According to the data, the May index of employment trends deteriorated to 107.69 points compared to 108.00 points in April (revised from 108.08). This change represents an increase in the index by 3.9 percent compared to the same period in 2017. "The decline in the employment trends index in May is likely a return to the trend after a very rapid increase in recent months, given that the economy is growing significantly above the trend, we expect that steady job growth will continue despite difficulties in filling vacancies, "said Gad Levanon, chief economist for North America in the Conference Board.

Oil prices fell by about 1.5%, as production in the US reached a record level, and OPEC members are considering increasing the supply. Oil production in the US rose to 10.47 million barrels per day in March, which is a monthly record, the Energy Information Administration said last week. Meanwhile, on Friday, Baker Hughes reported that from May 26 to June 1, the number of active oil drilling rigs in the US increased by 2 pieces to 861 units (the highest since mid-March 2015). The number of gas production facilities decreased by 1, to 197 units. The total number of drilling rigs (gas, oil and other) increased by 1, to 1060 units.

Most of the components of DOW have finished trading in positive territory (22 out of 30). Leader of growth were shares of Walmart Inc. (WMT, + 2.94%). Outsider were shares of General Electric Company (GE, -2.84%).

Almost all sectors of S & P recorded a rise. The consumer goods sector grew most (+ 0.9%), while the utilities sector showed the largest decrease (-0.4%).

Upozorenje o rizicima
